Since the UK is leaving the EU trading zone, it is likely that the import and export of cargo will change. Expected is that the UK will be treated as a third country. This means that for all goods, an import or export declaration is most likely to occur, besides having to pay excise tax.
For doing business outside the EU, your business is required to have an EORI-number. The EORI-number is used as an unique identification number in the customs declarations of Economic Operators. As a business, you can request your EORI-number at your countries’ tax office or at the EU’s trading office.
From 1 January 2021, for pallets and other wood products such as crates and boxes the international standard ISPM 15 apply. This is the standard for trading outside of the European Union.
Is your business trading with the UK, and haven’t you traded goods outside the EU before? Then the import and export documentation may seem very complicated, if you have not experienced this before. At ColliCare Logistics, we have our own customs brokerage department which is closely following the developments regarding trading with the UK in 2021 and onwards.
When companies outsource their customs activities, it is obligatory to provide Logistics Service Providers (LSP) with the correct information concerning the INCO-terms, Commercial Invoice, Shipment information, Packing lists and VGM document. We are ready to execute your customs formalities when companies have prepared their part by defining their INCO-terms and have applied for an EORI-number.
