ColliCare participates in environmental debate

ColliCare participates in environmental debate at Arendalsuka. Can the transportation industry save Norway's climate goals?

The Arendalsuka event gathers businesses, politicians, and organizations once a year. Key politicians, researchers and experts, companies, and organizations come together to discuss shared futures and goals.

The Green Land Transport Program works closely with ColliCare on green transport in Norway and invited ColliCare to participate in a panel discussion on how the transportation industry in Norway can help meet tough environmental goals. Our Sustainablility Manager, Sonnie Førrisdahl, represented ColliCare. The panel debate was filmed and can be streamed here.

Sonnie has extensive knowledge on the subject and opinions on what is needed:

"The biggest reduction we've made is replacing trucks with trains between Italy and Scandinavia, along with multimodal solutions on many routes in Europe. We are also using and testing electric vehicles (EVs), biogas, and biofuel as alternatives to fossil fuels. In Poland, a recent test was conducted using EVs for transportation to and from the port, allowing us to offer green transport all the way from the manufacturer abroad to the recipient in Norway."

To participate in larger tenders, we need to be able to offer environmentally friendly transport both nationally and internationally. We have several customers who are willing to pay for more eco-friendly transport.

Sonnie Førrisdahl emphasized an important point during the panel debate:

"The transportation industry in Norway is not just made up of large players with financial muscle. It also consists of sole proprietorships and small companies with 2-3 employees, and they must be part of this effort. If we can show them that this can be profitable over time—and that they have access to good and understandable support schemes they can benefit from—then the transportation industry can help save Norway's climate goals."
